Defend the EUB 2! Demonstration in Hamilton
Defend the EUB 2! Demonstration in Hamilton
Mobilise to defend the EUB Two Wednesday 25th/ Thursday 26th October from 10am onwards Hamilton Courthouse
The SWO in Hamilton will definetly support both Dan and Andrew down at the Court Case, as fellow members of Fightback. These arrests are political and would not have happened if Labour had restated the Emergency Unemployment Benifit as they had promised. Thosands of students face a summer of hardship, homelessness and hunger if they can't find scarce low-paid jobs and are denied any social welfare at all. SWO calls on other groups like the Waikato Students Union, the WPAS, NZUSA, Young Labour, Staunch, the Alliance Party and the Greens, as well as students from other campuses close by, to support the picket outside the Courts this Wednesday and Thursday in Waikato. We need banners, placards, and a decent show of strength. Don't let them criminalise students who have been denied their basic unemployment rights this summer.
Stop the students' Summer of Starvation- HANDS OFF THE EUB 2! For further info contact Joe 025 6048955, Heather 07 8467875 or Kane 021 1262723
Forward from Dan X ( arrested member of Fightback Waikato)
STUDENTS ARRESTED
Four Waikato students chained themselves to office furniture yesterday in the Hamilton office of Work and Income New Zealand to protest the Government's lack of support for students over summer. Two students were arrested and charged with trespass. -Waikato Times, Saturday.
For anyone who hasn't found out yet, the two students arrested were myself and Andrew from the WSU. I think he goes to court on Wednesday, I go in on Thursday and think it would be great if we could get some degree of support down there at the court house on those two days. I for one don't want to be there by myself, we're all int his together remember. Andrew & I are just the tips of the iceberg when it comes to sacrificing ourselves, many more are going to have to do it if we're going to win this one. Try and get as many as possible down at the court house, it may help us get off with only a warning. I can't afford to pay any fine they give me anyway.
