Kids Invited To Write To PM On KidsNet Radio

Hi there,

I am writing to you as a Trustee of The Children's Radio Trust. We are a non-profitable trust dedicated to establishing a radio network - KidsNet - for 6-to-12 year old New Zealanders. This is a segment is our society who are not properly being served by our media.

KidsNet will be a nationwide radio network, with programming ranging from music and stories to curriculum and competitions. Already we have the support of the Children's Commissioner, Minister of Social Services and other principals. Our Trustees include broadcasters, businesspeople, musicians and children - who else knows the market better?!

But we need your help.

To seek Government funding we need to demonstrate the demand for KidsNet.We'd like you to encourage the pupils of your school to write to the Prime Minister in support of KidsNet. They can suggest what they'd like to hear, how their station would work, or even draw pictures of the studio. It's free to write to Parliament and teachers can treat it as an educational exercise. We are timing the letter-writing campaign with the week leading up to Children's Day, Sunday 29th October. We've set up a website for you at www.kidsnet.homepage.com to explain the Trust's aims and give more background.
