Pro-voluntary campaigner pledges support for CPSA

PRESS RELEASE: VSM CANTERBURY

Pro-voluntary campaigner pledges support for CPSA campus representation role

Students of Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology are about to vote in a referendum that will decide the membership status of their student association, CPSA.

Campaigning in support of the current voluntary status of the Association has been carried out by KCVC / VSMC co-ordinated by Patrick Dunford, a full time student at the Institute.

"KCVC / VSMC still believe in voluntary membership. We are still campaigning for it. However as a student of this institution committed to the concept of student representation on- campus, and a student representative in 1995, 1996, 1999 and 2000, I am pledging to support the Association in providing that representation, regardless of whether the outcome of the referendum is voluntary or compulsory. "

Patrick Dunford 6 September 2000.
