EDUCATION CAPITAL FUNDING CERTAINTY FINDS FAVOUR: FEDERATED FARMERS
Federated Farmers rural education spokesperson, Roger Barton, has backed Government moves to give greater funding certainty for school capital works programmes.
Previously, schools' funding for capital works was on an annual basis that made long-term planning difficult.
"The Government's 'Five Year Property Programme' means that capital works development will be funded for five years. This will hopefully give rural schools' board of trustees the freedom to manage their own capital works programmes without having to return to the Ministry of Education every year for funding," Mr Barton said.
"Rural school boards want the freedom to get on with governing without any undue hindrance from rules and regulations. This adjustment should ensure that this is the case," concluded Mr Barton.
