Resign Rankin Resign (Part II)

Published: Thu 16 Mar 2000 01:03 PM
Students from Auckland University and AUT, angered by the continuing incompetence of WINZ, will today rally in Central Auckland.
A similar rally last Thursday demanded that WINZ immediately employ more staff, Christine Rankin resign and that the Labour-Alliance government begin the process of abolishing the loan scheme through progressive steps toward free education.
“Clearly, none of the demands have been met. In fact, Christine Rankin has continued to deny that there is any problem let alone accept any responsibility for the shambles that WINZ Student Services is in. We said last week that we would be back if the demand for more staff and Rankin to resign were not met," said Ms Hall.
The rally is to be held at Auckland University in the Student Union Quad at 1pm.
