Creators Behind Award-Winning Between Two Beers Launch Reflections, A New Storytelling Business - For Family, By Family
The creators behind the award-winning podcast Between Two Beers have today launched Reflections, a new storytelling business that helps Kiwi families tell and share their most treasured stories. Led by Steve Holloway and Seamus Marten, Reflections gives New Zealanders the opportunity to capture and preserve the stories of their whānau and loved ones for generations to come.
Reflections addresses the tragedy of losing treasured information and tales of our family and friends. Overseen by Steve and Seamus, Reflections works with a small team of Aotearoa’s leading interviewers, who research their subjects' lives, crafting an engaging, insightful two-hour conversation to capture all of the most meaningful moments of their guests’ lives.
Steve believes the magic of life is in the detail, the personality and the stories - and too often, it’s lost: “We’re all on life’s conveyor belt, and we’re all a bit bloody fascinating. But currently, unless a family has its act together, it’s often only the stories of the famous that endlessly stay around. This is where Reflections is set to change the status quo.”
Seamus agrees, saying: “When we pass, so do our stories - leaving gaps in family understanding that can never be filled. Addressing this for Kiwi families feels like our most important work yet.”
The Reflections interview team includes seasoned journalists Suzanne McFadden(Newsroom, RNZ) and Mark Stafford (SENZ, former face of TAB).
The idea for Reflections was born following an email from a Between Two Beers listener, Caley Wilson (co-founder of Blinder), who thought the work Steve and Seamus were doing with Between Two Beers would be an incredible asset for Kiwi families. He suggested they test the waters with his own parents, Gary (pictured) and Maureen.
“Through this experience, we preserved something irreplaceable, deepened our present relationships, and gave our family a gift that will last forever,” says Caley.
