2024’s talented choreographers are; inaugural 2023 Company B alumni Oli Mathiesen who has recently debuted his own dance work The Butterfly Who Flew Into The Rave, Vincent Farane who has danced with Black Grace on their recent US tours and in Ieremia’s Paradise Rumour, along with the exceptional, permanent Black Grace dancers Demi-Jo Sefo, Rodney Tyrell and Fuaao Tutulu Faith Schuster.
Neil Ieremia says, “Company B provides a multi-layered mentoring experience, not only bridging the gap between pre-professional and professional dancers, but also offering an in-depth intensive for the emerging choreographers. Our aim is to create a complete learning experience and contribute positively to Aotearoa’s dance industry as well as their respective communities”.
Black Grace were able to offer ten dancers the opportunity to participate in the programme. Introducing the 2024 Company B dancers; Azael Setu Uini-Faiva, Kardia Ah Kiau, Cade Hansen, Caleb Sagala, Paige Downard, Kisha September, Oliver Carruthers, Anric Sitanilei, Phase Ata and Deija Vukona.
The ten dancers selected offer varying degrees of dance training and experience, from diverse cultures across Aotearoa they will come together for an exacting four-week rehearsal period culminating in a five-day season for what will no doubt be a truly memorable experience.
