WOW 2020 – Pilatus Aircraft Ltd

One of the newest and most unique business jets in the world will make its New Zealand debut at next Easter’s Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow.

The PC-24 is the latest aircraft to be produced by Pilatus Aircraft Limited based in Switzerland. The aircraft is the first business jet to be produced by Pilatus after international success with their PC-12 turboprop aircraft.

Pilatus sold the first three years of production in 36 hours during EBACE 2014. The first deliveries are currently taking place, with four aircraft already delivered and in operation throughout Australia.

The PC-24 is described by Pilatus as the world’s first ‘Super Versatile Jet’ because of its ability to land on more runways than many of its competitors. The company says the PC-24 is engineered to be “off road” compatible with its short field performance, even on unpaved runways.

Pilatus has been a Principal Partner of Warbirds Over Wanaka since 2016 and has welcomed the opportunity to be involved once again in 2020.

Pilatus Australia CEO, Sebastian Lip said that “Pilatus Australia is committed to supporting Warbirds Over Wanaka and is delighted that the PC-24 will make its New Zealand Airshow debut at Warbirds Over Wanaka 2020. The aircraft is ideally suited to Australia and New Zealand with the ability to fly trans-Tasman and operate in and out of small airfields, including those with grass runways. It is a truly unique capability in this class of aircraft.”

Warbirds Over Wanaka General Manager, Ed Taylor, says having the PC-24 at next Easter’s Airshow is a real coup. “As an international event it is fantastic to have the support of a number of major international companies like Pilatus. for them to choose our event to debut their latest aircraft in New Zealand is the icing on the cake,” says Ed.
