Rialto Cinemas has once again partnered with Clearly & Co, who curated the spectacular films for this year’s line-up. Curators Clare Buchanan and Akiko Kurematu recognise the impact these films can have on our local audiences, “These films engage us to examine societal, cultural, and environmental changes as they happen, and to contemplate the role of architecture and design in his context," says Kurematsu.
The festival films have been grouped into themes, so audiences can navigate towards stories they are most curious about. “We have brought together 18 films from all over the world. This year we have The Masters, The Creative Class, Less Is Better and A Better Future”.
Rialto Cinemas Group Manager Kathryn Bennett says that she is delighted that the festival is returning for 2019 and that the festival has been extended to a week long stint in the Havelock North and New Plymouth locations. “This festival is going from strength to strength on an annual basis and we can see that cinema audiences are really enjoying these exclusive films from all over the world”.
Resene Marketing Manager Karen Warman says Resene is once again delighted to be bringing the festival to New Zealand with Rialto Cinemas. The Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival is a popular event on the calendar and we are always eagerly asked when it is coming back each year. Resene has a long history of supporting New Zealand architecture and being a part of this festival helps to remind us all how important creativity and great design is.“
This year’s festival gold partners are Fisher & Paykel, CADPRO and Autodesk, and HOME. Bronze partners are Architectural Designers New Zealand (ADNZ) and Leftfield.
