Pulse to host ANZ Premiership Grand Final

The 2019 ANZ Premiership Grand Final has been confirmed for Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua on Monday 3 June of the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

Thanks to a strong season which has seen them go through most of the season undefeated, Te Wānanga o Raukawa Pulse have secured the minor premiership which earns them hosting rights for the title decider.

Due to the unavailability of venues in the Central Zone, Netball New Zealand, thanks to strong support from the Porirua City Council and league partners, has made the decision to reschedule the Grand Final by one day with first centre pass at 4:00pm on the Monday of Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

In another exciting development, the match will be simulcast LIVE on both SKY Sport and free to air on Prime for the first time.

Netball New Zealand Head of Events Kate Agnew said it was important to work alongside Pulse to allow them the opportunity to play in front of a home crowd for the Grand Final.

“The Pulse have known for some time that venues within their Zone would be a problem on the originally scheduled Grand Final date of 2 June, so we have been working closely with the Pulse and other teams to ensure the best outcome for the league,” Agnew said.

“Ultimately we made the decision to shift the Grand Final by one day to allow this season’s minor premiers to have home court advantage.

“SKY Sport have further supported the change by giving netball fans around the country the opportunity to watch the Grand Final through SKY's free to air channel Prime which is an incredible way to end the season on a high.”

The Grand Final will see Pulse will play the winner of the Elimination Final between the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel and Northern Stars in Invercargill on Wednesday 29 May.

Ticket prices for the ANZ Premiership Grand Final start from $25 for a child or $45 for an adult and go on sale next week.
