26-28 July 2019
Tūrama, Auckland’s new light festival is set to enchant Aucklanders with impressive light shows that will transform
inner city Albert Park into an illuminated wonderland for three nights.
Tūrama, which means to give light to, to illuminate in Te Reo, will be a free event attracting people from all over New
Zealand.
Albert Park will provide the backdrop for visitors to explore an assortment of curated sensorial experiences, stunning
stories told through projection, interactive sculptures and performances that turn light and movement into art.
Tūrama will shine a light on its audience with a series of illuminated installations specifically designed to work
within the park environment, using the gnarled atmospheric trees to dazzling effect.
The festival will run from 5pm until late, from 26 -28 July, and include some of New Zealand’s best visual artists,
music and performers alongside a variety of delicious, healthy kai options.
The best of Auckland’s local music stars will add their tunes to the free entertainment and licensed bar areas will
serve a range of beverages.
Tūrama will be a highlight in the new month-long Elemental AKL, a festival showcasing light, entertainment, cuisine, and
culture. The festival will excite, inspire, and delight locals and visitors, giving everyone a compelling reason to get
out and about this winter.
The inaugural Tūrama event will transform Albert Park into an interactive playground and will be designed to get
Aucklanders to leave their fireside, don their winter woolies and seek out the creativity on display.
So mark the dates in the calendar and ensure your communities know about this exciting event.
