Rob Wakelin appointed General Manager of KartSport NZ
KartSport New Zealand is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Wakelin as General Manager.
Wakelin is a seasoned sports administrator who has also held senior management roles in non-profit organisations.
Most recently Wakelin has served as Head of Participation for Cricket Scotland. Prior to that he was CEO of Te Araroa - New Zealand’s Trail (a 3000km walking trail running the length of New Zealand) and has also held General Manager roles with Rugby League Northland and Piha Surf Life Saving Club.
He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Victoria University of Wellington and a Diploma in Business Studies from Massey University, majoring in Sport Management.
A hands on leader who brings with him a depth of management and sporting skills, Wakelin’s background will bring to the business a bright new approach to the marketing and development of KartSport at all levels.
KartSport New Zealand expects this appointment to continue the trajectory of recent development and modernisation of the sport that continues to produce an array of New Zealand motorsport talent.
Wakelin will commence on 13 May.
