NBL And Harlem Globetrotters Support Christchurch Victims
The Harlem Globetrotters are uniting with the NBL to support the victims of the recent Christchurch terror attack at their forthcoming show in the New Zealand city.
Harlem Globetrotters and the NBL will donate proceeds of the Harlem Globetrotters’ Christchurch show to the Our People, Our City fund to support those affected by the tragedy.
The donation will be made in support of the YOU ARE US/AROHA NUI events on Wednesday April 17 at 7.00pm which will also raise funds for the Our People, Our City fund set up to support those affected.
The Harlem Globetrotters will perform at Horncastle Arena in Christchurch on the same night as the YOU ARE US/AROHA NUI concert with New Zealander of the Year Mike King to host the event.
NBL Chief Executive Jeremy Loeliger said: “The events in Christchurch last month shocked and saddened the entire world including everyone in the Australian and New Zealand basketball communities.
“We want to show our support by providing a donation from the proceeds raised from the Harlem Globetrotters’ Christchurch show to the Our People, Our City fund.
“It is the least the NBL community can do to help those affected by these terrible events and I’m sure the Globetrotters are determined to put on a wonderful show for the people of Christchurch.”
Known worldwide as the "Ambassadors of Goodwill"™, the iconic Harlem Globetrotters provide community outreach and a commitment to fans that goes beyond the game.
‘’We hope this small contribution will bring a moment of happiness to the city of Christchurch’’, said Howard Smith, President Harlem Globetrotters.
The Harlem Globetrotters are currently touring Australia and New Zealand. For more information about the shows and how to purchase tickets click here.
