Artists Band Together For Christchurch

In response to the devastating events in Christchurch on Friday 15 March, we put a call out to our arts community to let us know about any initiatives to support the community directly impacted by the Christchurch terror attack. Artists have mobilised, and are redirecting funds, organising charity drives, and gifting their time in support.

In the coming weeks, we will be sending regular updates of the events and initiatives led by the arts community to proactively support all those affected.

This week, we have:

Modern Jive is a fusion of Salsa, Jive and Swing, and the team at Move Dance teach this energetic style of partner dancing in 3 venues around Auckland: Takapuna, New Lynn & Pakuranga.

Regularly holding fundraising nights with their pay-it-forward "Feel Good Friday", this week they are channelling all money raised into supporting the people affected by last week’s tragedy in Christchurch. The Blockhouse Bay Community Centre have gifted the venue for the event, so all funds raised from the entry fee and the raffles will go directly to the cause.
