Published: Tue 12 Mar 2019 04:46 PM
Ticket sales for the 2019 Festival of Colour arts festival have been strong with many shows selling out within the first few days of tickets being on sale. Extra tickets for all previously sold out performances are being released on Friday 15 March.
The Festival of Colour takes place from Tuesday 2 to Sunday 7 April in Wanaka, Queenstown and Central Otago. Known as ‘the best little arts festival in New Zealand’, the festival also spills over for an extra four days of special events from Saturday 30 March including an exclusive pre-festival concert by baroque music superstar Jordi Savall on Sunday 31 March.
Festival Director Philip Tremewan expects demand will be high for the extra tickets.
“We’re delighted with the response to this year’s programme and thrilled to see shows like The Māori Sidesteps, Nadia Reid and Bruce sell out.”
As well as being able to purchase tickets to previously sold out shows, the ticket limits will be lifted for popular shows including Jordi Savall, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and the Royal New Zealand Ballet’s performances of Strength and Grace.
The additional tickets go on sale on Friday 15 March at 9.00am and are available online or by phone.
The 2019 Festival of Colour takes place 2-7 April and is generously supported by gold sponsors Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, Aurora Energy, McKinsey & Company and Milford Asset Management plus funders Creative New Zealand, Central Lakes Trust, Otago Community Trust and Queenstown Lakes District Council.
Visit www.festivalofcolour.co.nz for full details of the programme. Extra tickets for previously sold out shows are on sale from Friday 15 March at 9.00am via the website, or by calling 022 4 TIX NOW (022 4 849 669) or, on Friday only, 03 669 2849
