Enabling Love Coffee Club

Published: Tue 26 Feb 2019 03:58 PM
Enabling Love which is under the umbrella of Enabling NZ is delighted to announce that we are running our first Coffee Club in an effort to diversify our services. We have been getting a number of requests from members to run a weekly get together, and a coffee group is a good format to do this in. The Coffee Club was also mentioned as an idea by Ignite Consulting in the report that they presented to us about where we needed to go as an organisation last year.
The coffee club will run for a four week trial, and if this goes well we may look at applying for funding to run it in other parts of the country.
Our goals are to listen to our members and action their requests and ideas where possible.
A number of enquiries have been coming from different parts of the country, and Dunedin.
We have just got our non-profit status, it means we will be able to apply for grants, which will hopefully be able to give us opportunities to run more events up and down the country, as we know there is a real need to break down barriers for disabled people when it comes to socialising in the community in New Zealand.
Enabling Love has a lot of work to do to address this going forward over the next few months, and we are looking to network with events both locally and nationally to address this need, as mentioned earlier.
If your organisation or business has an opportunity in terms of an event collaboration or music festival please email us at enquiries@enablinglove.nz
The more opportunities we can get for our members to go to main stream events the better it will be for them in the long term, in terms of socialising and getting out into the community.
