Vbase is ready to welcome at least 25,000 Phil Collins fans to Christchurch Stadium, for the rock legends only South
Island concert. The former Genesis singer and drummer is set to play two shows in New Zealand as part of his Not Dead Yet: Live! Tour kicking off in Christchurch on Monday 4 February.
Vbase Acting General Manager, Chris Mintern says “Everyone at Vbase is very excited about delivering another major
concert at Christchurch Stadium. It will be a fantastic night and we can’t wait to make it happen!”
With gates scheduled to open at 6:00pm and Phil Collins set to take the stage at 8pm, Vbase have extended the Stadium
footprint to allow for additional food vendors and bars. They are advising ticket holders to be prepared and to arrive
early to avoid congestion.
Transport for Christchurch and Vbase are working to ensure roads surrounding Christchurch Stadium are safe for all
users. A traffic management plan is in place help create a safe environment for pedestrians coming and going from the
event. Jack Hinton Drive will be closed from 6am on Monday 4 February and Twigger Street will be closed half way from
6am. To help support a safe environment for pedestrians, Whiteleigh Ave will also be closed from 8pm until 12am.
“We have several ways to streamline public entry into the venue. There is limited onsite parking available as the
precinct will have heavy pedestrian traffic, however mobility parking is available for those with the required permit,”
Mr. Mintern says.
Ticket sales indicate that about 45 per cent of concert goers are travelling from outside Canterbury.
“It will be a huge boost for the city’s hospitality industry, bringing thousands of extra visitors to Christchurch. We
anticipate will result in an extra $2.4 million of spending across retail and hospitality in the city so it is going to
be a positive event for Christchurch,’’ Mr. Mintern says
