Defender Sophia Fenwick has been named as a permanent player for The Good Oil Tactix during the 2019 ANZ Premiership
season.
The 26-year-old comes in as a permanent replacement to cover injured defender Temalisi Fakahokotau who is likely to miss
the season as she continues to recover from an ACL injury.
Fenwick is no stranger to the Tactix having played for them from 2012-2014, and was originally named as a training
partner for the 2019 ANZ Premiership Season.
Starting out as a shooter, she switched into a defensive role in 2016 and has excelled there since having captained the
Hellers Mainland Beko Netball League team in 2017 – a season which saw her scoop Player of the Year honours.
Tactix coach Marianne Delaney-Hoshek said the addition of Fenwick to the fulltime playing squad adds genuine quality and
experience.
“Sophia adds real value to our team on and off the court, she is a natural leader and has already had experience at this
level – albeit at the other end of the court,” she said.
“The Beko Netball League has allowed Sophia to learn a new position and get herself back to the ANZ Premiership.”
Former Rangiora High School and St Andrew's College student Georgia Woollett has been added as a training partner to
replace Sophia.
The Good Oil Tactix open their 2019 ANZ Premiership season on Sunday 24th February against the Magic in Hamilton. With
the first home game in Christchurch on Tuesday 26th February at 7.40pm against last years ANZ Premiership winners, the
Southern Steel.
