New Zealand actor and writer James Morcan today announced he will be writing and starring in a new feature film titled
The Dracula Cult.
“This is a radical reimagining of the Dracula tale, set in the modern era,” Morcan said from his residence in Sydney,
Australia. “It is expected to be a classic good versus evil, dusk till dawn, film-noir road movie.”
Morcan is teaming up with his long-time collaborator, Indian-Australian director and producer Stanley Joseph. The
Dracula Cult will be the fourth feature film the two have made together, having previously shot two OZ-Bollywood movies,
My Cornerstone and Love You Krishna, as well as the post-Apocalyptic film After Armageddon.
“Without giving too much of the plot away, this will be a bit more sci-fi orientated than previous Dracula or vampiric
stories,” Morcan said. “Yes, we will have shades of horror, but the film will also explore medical mysteries including
very rare blood types.”
Morcan is currently writing the screenplay for the film with Stanley Joseph attached to direct and produce. The
production is expected to begin filming in and around Sydney, NSW, early next year.
