Callum and P Spearhead Campaign to see Six60 Perform in Dunedin
11 December 2018 – When The Hits Dunedin and Southland Breakfast duo Callum and P started petitioning SIX60 to do a show in Dunedin, they never thought it would actually happen.
After multiple calls with the promoter to get him onside and setting up a 'Project SIX60' Facebook event which got a huge amount of traffic, Callum and P finally got hold of Matiu Walters, the lead singer, and they were able to make it a reality. They announced a Dunedin show on March 9 at Forsyth Barr Stadium.
Walters said, “Let’s do it, the people have spoken!”
Patrina Roche, better known as P to listeners, said it started out as a bit of fun. “We initially started talking to the promoter as a bit of a laugh, because there were a lot of people in the South Island who were disappointed there wouldn’t be a concert down south, or who couldn’t make it to Western Springs. Then all of a sudden it actually became a reality and we, and our listeners, were over the moon!”
As fans will know, SIX60 began in Dunedin, at their flat on 660 Castle Street in the popular student area, so Callum and P felt it was only fitting that the band performed in their hometown in 2019.
Callum Procter says they are already really excited about the event. “It is fantastic to have so many people in Dunedin and Southland really get behind us and encourage the band to do a show down here. SIX60 have such loyal fans who I know will be over the moon to have a chance to see the guys next year.
“It just goes to show, a little pestering can get you a long way!”
Catch SIX60 at Forsyth Barr Stadium on March 9 2019. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster, and will go on sale at 12pm on Monday 17 December.
