Celebrating our volunteers on International Volunteer Day

5 December 2018

Wednesday 5th December is International Volunteers Day!

Parents Centre New Zealand wants to recognise and thank all the volunteers that make us who we are.

“Our volunteers are key to Parents Centres being there for families around New Zealand – we wouldn’t be able to operate without them” said Heather Hayden, Parents Centre Chief Executive.

Over one thousand people volunteer for Parents Centres in our 46 Centres around New Zealand - all giving their time and skills to improve communities, bring people together and support parents to be the best that they can be. Parents Centre is the primary provider of Pregnancy, Childbirth and Parent Education in New Zealand, supporting families for over 65 years with many of our volunteers having parents and grandparents that also volunteered for Parents Centres.

Volunteering for organisations like Parents Centre is about personal satisfaction, and community responsibility. It is also about making an active contribution to our community by supporting the most important job of all – parenting. Our volunteers take time out of their busy lives to give our organisation the ability to support parents from pregnancy and throughout their parenting journey.

We appreciate everything they do, the skills they bring and the positive way in which they promote parenting in New Zealand.

Recognising them on International Volunteers Day is one of the ways we can thank them for their contribution to our organisation and their communities.
