Jules Moore wins People’s Choice at NZ Flower and Garden Show
Visitors to the New Zealand Flower and Garden Show have cast their votes, and crowned Jules’ Zen Garden as the People's Choice Award winner of 2018.
With over 200 horticultural and floral exhibits on display, Show visitors overwhelmingly voted for Jules’ Zen Garden, created by Jules Moore from JM Landscapes, to take out the coveted People’s Choice Award.
Show visitors were given the chance to vote for their favourite garden over the first three days of the Show.
Jules spent over 12 months planning and creating the display. It featured a century old Maple tree, natural blue stone paths, board walks and a tower with ancient temple bells. Jules hoped to calm the senses through the juxtaposition of sound and visual beauty, to instil a moment of tranquillity for visitors who were able to walk throughout the garden.
Jules was also awarded a Gold Medal and took out the overall Best in Show Award for her outstanding exhibit.
An emotional Jules Moore said of her win; “Out of all the Awards I have won at this Show, this is the most precious. It is incredibly humbling as there are so many wonderful gardens and talented designers here.”
Event Director and award-winning-designer, Kate Hillier, says the win was well-deserved, garnering many enthusiastic comments from Show visitors.
“Jules’ exhibit was a standout at this year’s Show and the People’s Choice Award is well-deserved. Whilst all the exhibits on offer this year were of a world class standard, it is hard to ignore the reaction and excitement from each visitor that saw this one of a kind display!” says Kate Hillier.
This year’s New Zealand Flower and Garden Show is
expected to attract around 40,000 visitors across five days,
showcasing everything from award-winning garden exhibits,
feature art installations and displays, a spot of retail
therapy and gourmet food and beverages.
New additions to the 2018 Show include first-time local and international garden designers, a refreshed VIP Experience and a revamped Show footprint, with more indoor displays so that Auckland’s unpredictable weather won’t play havoc with visitors experience.
Event Organisers are also keen to remind visitors to hold on to their Show tickets for the highly-anticipated sell-off, which will take place on Sunday from 5pm. Visitors will be able to barter with exhibitors to take home plants and other display items at some bargain prices.
The New Zealand Flower and Garden Show is open
from now until Sunday 2nd December, 10am – 6pm at the
Trust’s Arena, Auckland.
