VX Sport will give rugby fans the chance to view player performance stats in real time for the first time during Red Bull Ignite7, New Zealand Rugby’s (NZR’s) innovative new search for the next Sevens Superstars.
Fans will be able to track player data as they watch the tournament live on Sky Sport 1 from 11.30am NZDT this Saturday, 24 November direct from Trusts Arena Waitakere.
VX Sport™, a pioneer in the broadcasting of live athlete performance data since 2011 and official High-Performance Supplier to NZR, is partnering with the national rugby union to stream the live stats on https://www.ignite7.co.nz/
Data from 14 matches will be streamed live via the Red Bull Ignite7 website, using technology provided by VX Sport™. Metrics such as speed, heart rate and distance can be viewed in real-time, as well as a combined “Body Load” score - a number calculated using benchmarks from national New Zealand rugby sevens athletes.
VX Sport™ CEO Richard Snow said, “Having a few metrics available on TV during a broadcast was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to getting fans engaged with data.”
“We believe there is a huge opportunity for usage of physical data outside the realm of sport science – especially around fan engagement. By building upon our VX Live-Stream™ platform we have been able to bring performance stats directly to devices of fans in real time. This is a huge step forward for both VX Sport™, and real time physical tracking.”
VX Sport’s live data streaming technology is built upon a strong technical foundation, which offers superior range, reliability and many more metrics, compared with RFID solutions which have difficulty in delivering in a realtime broadcast environment. VX Sport’s new 5th generation hardware products have a range of up to 2,000 meters, while offering the smallest live data receiver on the market.
