More tickets for must-see NZSO Beethoven concert in Wellingt

22 November 2018

The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra’s Beethoven 9 concert in Wellington tomorrow is so popular, extra tickets have been released to cope with demand.

An additional 49 C Reserve tickets and 32 D Reserve tickets have made been available in the Choir Stalls at the Michael Fowler Centre, allowing more people to see the NZSO’s performance of Beethoven’s magnificent First and Ninth symphonies on 23 November.

The Voices New Zealand Chamber Choir, who perform during the Ninth Symphony, will be on stage risers instead of in the Choir Stalls.

The decision to open the Choir Stalls was made due to heavy demand for tickets to Beethoven 9, NZSO Music Director Edo de Waart’s final Wellington concert for 2018. The NZSO’s Beethoven 9 concert in Auckland on Saturday, 24 November sold out earlier this week.

Tickets to the Wellington concert are available via agency ticketmaster.co.nz. NZSO Student Rush and Community Services Concession tickets will also be available on the day of the concert via Ticketmaster.

The Ninth Symphony is best known for the fourth movement’s spine-tingling ‘Ode to Joy’, where the NZSO will be joined by four classical stars – soprano Madeleine Pierard, mezzo-soprano Kristin Darragh, tenor Simon O’Neill and bass Anthony Robin Schneider.
