November 8, 2018) New Zealand’s television artisans
were awarded tonight at the Huawei Mate20 New
Zealand Television Craft Awards 2018, hosted by Screen
Auckland.
Great Southern Film & Television’s TVNZ telefeature The Dance Exponents: Why Does Love? earned a total of four awards - the most of any single production of the night - winning Best Cinematography: Drama, Screen Auckland Best Art Direction or Best Production Design, Best Costume and Best Script: Drama.
In the Huawei Mate20 Best Script: Comedy category, comedian Alice Snedden won the hotly contested award for Three’s Funny Girls.
Wanted season 2 won a total of three awards. The Matchbox Pictures drama series which was filmed in New Zealand and aired on Three earlier this year took out Best Editing: Drama, Best Contribution to a Soundtrack and Best Post Production Design.
In the documentary categories, Stuff Circuit’s The Valley won Best Editing: Documentary/Factual and perennial audience favourite Topp Country was awarded Huawei Mate20 Best Camerawork: Documentary/Factual.
A total of 13 awards were given out at the ceremony which was MC’d by entertainment reporter Kate Rodger at GridAKL tonight. The remaining 26 award categories will be announced at the Civic Theatre on November 22 at the Huawei Mate20 New Zealand Television Awards gala ceremony.
