Newshub Launches the Outlook
The Queer News, Views And Culture Podcast
Newshub is expanding its podcast lineup with the launch of The Outlook, available online from today.
The Outlook is a magazine-style news and entertainment show tailored specifically for the LGBTIQ community, featuring local and
international news, views and culture. This follows straight off the back of Newshub’s first podcast, Grove Road, launching in September and hitting number one on iTunes.
Hosted by Dan Lake, The Outlook includes a revolving cast of co-hosts and guest speakers who discuss current issues and events in the LGBTIQ community.
Dan has covered LGBTIQ issues for Newshub for eight years and previously hosted a weekly live radio show for the rainbow
Episode one sees Dan co-hosting with actor and advocate Harry McNaughton. They speak to Petazae Thoms who took his story
of being transgender all the way to the top when he met with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex when they were in New
Zealand this week. Plus Tayler Morgan from season two of Married at First Sight NZ discusses his decision to talk openly on the show about taking PrEP, a drug that lowers someone's chances of contracting
Dan Lake may have lived in Auckland for most of his life, but he still remembers what life was like as a gay man in the
regions. He says it's important to him that the podcast is accessible and relevant to everyone.
"I'm so excited to launch this podcast. As well as being entertaining and informative, it will give a voice to those
within the LGBTIQ community who may be living in towns or even homes where they can't simply be themselves and be who
they want to be. I want to use this podcast as a way to share our stories and celebrate Aotearoa's diversity."
