Julia Goerges has claimed her sixth WTA tour title and her second of the season, taking out the Luxembourg Open overnight (NZT).
The world number 9 bested Swiss qualifier Belinda Bencic in a tightly contested two-setter, taking out the final 6-4, 7-5.
Goerges never dropped serve in the final, and broke the former World No.7 early in the opener and late in the second to seal her victory.
Goerges showed her class throughout, delivering a pair of her seven aces for the match to start the game, before sealing victory with a forehand winner in nearly 90 minutes on her second match point.
The win bookends a successful year for the German after taking out the ASB Classic Singles titles at the start of the year and some solid performances throughout the year which has seen her secure her current career high ranking of 9.
Goerges has also qualified to defend her title at the WTA Elite Trophy Final in Zhuhai, China, starting 30 October, and will be back to defend her singles title at the 2019 ASB Classic starting 31 December.
