Labour Weekend Weather Perfect for National Nude Gardening Day
With predictions of a predominantly warm and settled long weekend gardeners will be stripping away the winter debri from their garden, as well as their clothes, for the first New Zealand Nude Gardening Day being held on 20th October.
The NZ Naturist Federation announced last month that a New Zealand specific Nude Gardening Day was being established during National Gardening Week as the World Naked Gardening Day, in May was a little too nippy for Kiwi naturists.
Nude Gardening Day also falls on National Swan Plant Planting Day - a call to action by Yates to help Monarch caterpillars and butterflies flourish after last year’s lack of Swan Plants which impacted on the Monarch population.
Fiona Arthur from Yates said if everyone plants just a few Swan Plants or other butterfly friendly plants it will help butterflies flourish.
“Butterflies, including the much loved Monarch Butterfly, are key pollinators for our fruit and vegies. The Monarch caterpillar in particular has a ferocious appetite and planting Swan plants will help ensure they don’t run out of food. Whether you do it with clothes on or off is up to you,” said Ms Arthur.
NZ Naturist Clubs around the country will be doing their bit for our butterflies on National Swan Plant planting day. For further information visit NZ Naturist Federation’s website: https://gonatural.co.nz/
