Married at First Sight NZ Beats Project Runway NZ Premiere,
RAINBOW PEDESTRIAN CROSSING OPENS IN WELLINGTON THIS WEEK
Married at First Sight NZ bet the premiere of TVNZ 2’s Project Runway NZ in the key 25-54 demographic on Monday night. Married at First Sight NZ hit a 22.6% audience share and 7.0 rating point with 129,770 viewers in the 25-54 demographic, versus Runway’s 16.5% share and 5.4 rating, with 100,902 viewers in 25-54. Hit US procedural drama 9-1-1 also won its timeslot on Monday evening with a 18.0% share and 5.3 rating. Three also won the night on Thursday, recording an overall share of 22.4% amongst 25-54s.
Last night, Married at First Sight NZ was up against the premiere of My Kitchen Rules NZ on TVNZ 2. During the hour both shows were head-to-head, Married at First Sight NZ attracted 97,498 viewers in the key 25-54 demographic, compared to My Kitchen Rules’ 97,237 viewers.
Married at First Sight NZ also had a successful debut on ThreeNow, going straight to number one in the ThreeNow top 10. Live streams have increased by 24% compared to the same time last year, with total video streams up 11%. The social experiment reality show has almost doubled the performance of the opening week for this years’ The Block NZ on ThreeNow, demonstrating the show’s on-demand appeal. Tonight, the 12 newlyweds head to Bali to embark on their honeymoons as they attempt to learn more about each other.
Other wins for the week included:
Tuesday: The AM Show (31.4% share, 1.5 rating), Married at First Sight NZ (22.9% share, 6.7 rating),
Thursday: Transporter 2 (25.1% share, 5.7 rating),
Friday: 7 Days* (20.3% share, 5.9 rating).
In radio, The Sound presents The Eagles live in New Zealand next year when they bring their Eagles World Tour to Auckland on Tuesday, 26th February, and Dunedin on Saturday, 2nd March. The famous American band dominated the 70s and is one of the top-selling acts of all time, having sold more than 150 millions albums. The Sound is excited to support them on their 2019 tour, with general public ticket sales opening on Monday, 15th October.
Finally, this Wednesday, 10th October, New Zealand’s first permanent pedestrian Rainbow Crossing will be officially opened in Wellington, supported by The Edge. MediaWorks’ Wellington-based Promotional Coordinator for Mai FM and The Edge, Melissa Toomey, led the effort for a pride crossing in the capital, garnering nearly 3,000 e-signatures of support.
