Three Friends - One Paddling Pool - A Big Splash of Life
Wellington’s newest Playwright, Catherine Zulver is bringing In It Together to BATS Theatre 16-20 October, 2018. In It Together is a step into the living room of three bold and barely getting by 20-something women who serve up a zesty sense of humour, a generous splash of gin, and a big ol’ kick of that gritty real life stuff. Expanded from the original ten-minute piece in Short+Sweet Festival 2016 (awarded Best Script).
Fran, Daniela, and Kate share triumphs and failures together, they grapple with their roles as friends, flatmates, and independent women. Emerging playwright Catherine Zulver has brought back the sassy trio and will take you for a ride through the year in their lives.
“I wrote what I want to see more of- what we all need to see more of. It’s the side-splittingly silly, gut-wrenchingly tricky, heart-explodingy lovely bits I want to see on stage and feel a part of. I’m letting a (fourth) wall down and bringing people into a slice of life for these three women. In It Together is celebrating that time in life where you are choosing your people and letting it all out” says Zulver.
Serving up comedy and drama, these quick and quirky women endear themselves to the audience and the universal struggle of figuring it all out together.
“These stories aren’t a one and done,” she states, “it’s not a novelty to write a story with three women in it. It’s telling a story that’s real and relevant and dynamic. We don’t go to the cinema and see a film and think ‘Right, I’ve seen my quota of male-heavy content for the next while!”
The all-female team are bringing the fun back to the stage. This all female team are serving up a slick show that promises a good giggle. Zulver explains “When you boil it right down, it’s a play about sisterhood…no wait, friendship….no, maybe the shared human struggle…well it’s about being In It Together.”
In It Together is a proud recipient of the Emerging Artists Trust Grant 2018.
