Eskimo Dance NZ/AUS Tour adds to lineup

Published: Tue 25 Sep 2018 09:21 AM
Eskimo Dance, the original grime rave, set up by Wiley, the 'Godfather of Grime’, has announced some operational changes to its first tour of Australia and New Zealand, as well as some exciting changes to the line up. The biggest ever grime tour outside the UK is unable to visit Brisbane this time around, but promises massive shows across the remaining tour. Selected dates and venues have also been moved as follows: Perth (13th Oct - Metro City NO CHANGE), Auckland (16th Oct - Logan Campbell Centre NO CHANGE), Christchurch (17th Oct - The Foundry NEW VENUE), Sydney (18th Oct - Metro Theatre NEW DATE / NEW VENUE) and Melbourne (21st Oct - 170 Russell NEW DATE / NEW VENUE). The line up remains huge with Big Shaq making way for two new additions to ensure Eskimo Dance brings the truly authentic sound of grime to Australia and New Zealand. President T joins the tour alongside Little Dee, with these artists adding to an array of heavyweight grime talentincluding Wiley, Lethal Bizzle, Devlin, P Money (now going back to back with Little Dee in an unmissable set), BBC Radio 1’s DJ Target and Rude Kid. The influential grime brand has been instrumental in the rise of the grime genre, a sound which still dominates UK underground music, while also crossing over to secure mainstream success around the world. From its first event in 2002, Eskimo Dance became a platform to shape some of the biggest names to emerge from the scene to date, such as Wiley, Lethal Bizzle, Skepta, Kano, Tinie Tempah, Dizzee Rascal and many more. This is not just a rave, it’s the essence of grime culture. Now, Eskimo Dance prepares to bring the real sound of grime to Australia and New Zealand, delivering the first unforgettable taste of the UK’s number one live grime experience. Tickets are on sale now at: http://eskimo.dance/.
Australia and New Zealand prepare to get a taste of Eskimo Dance first hand with two exciting additions to the line up. President T is often referred to as ‘your favourite MC’s favourite MC’ such are his skills on the mic. One of the founding members of North London’s infamous ‘Meridian Crew’ alongside Skepta and JME, he went on to create the grime collective ‘Bloodline’ alongside Big H, Bossman, Birdie and Milli Major and is one of the most respected names in the grime scene.
Londoner, Little Dee first burst on to the scene as part of the Lewisham ‘Fatal Assassins’ now known as ‘OGz’ one of grime's most popular and successful crews. Now an artist in his own right, he is best known for tearing it up back to back with P Money - the duo released a 9-track album called ‘Back 2 Back’ album earlier this year, which means grime fans down under are in for a very special treat.
From the streets of inner-city London in the early 2000’s through to influencing the sound of global superstars such as Drake, P Diddy and Kanye West, creating superstars of its own along the way including Wiley, Dizzee Rascal, Stormzy and more, grime has become unstoppable. Eskimo Dance was the underground party that started it all, pushing the scene forwards under the stewardship of Wiley, to the point where Eskimo Dance sold out Wembley Arena in 2016 with a star-studded show that made history in UK urban music.
Alongside operational changes to dates and venues announced today, Eskimo Dance has strengthened its line up in terms of authentic, street-hardened grime and the artists are counting the days until they can unleash this show across Australia and New Zealand.
