NETBALL NEW ZEALAND CONFIRMS 2019 DOMESTIC CALENDAR
Friday 21 September 2018
New Zealand’s age-group and secondary school netballers will battle for supremacy from one end of the country to the other next year.
Netball New Zealand (NNZ) has announced the 2019 venues for some of the biggest domestic events on its calendar.
The Netball NZ U19 Champs head to the Deep South where Auckland will aim to defend the title it won this year.
The ILT Stadium Southland in Invercargill will host the age-group tournament from 8-11 July.
NNZ’s largest participation event will take place at the other end of the country when Netball Waitakere hosts the Netball NZ U17 Champs in Auckland.
Teams will be out to halt the run of Wellington Black which has now won three straight age-group titles.
The coveted schools crown will be up for grabs in October when the Saxton Stadium in Nelson hosts the NZ Secondary Schools Netball Champs.
The top 16 school teams from around the country will come together from 8-11 October when school pride goes on the line for the national title.
NNZ Chief Executive Jennie Wyllie said these events were a highlight of the year not just for the players but also the opportunities for coaching staff and umpires.
“It is such an important time of year for the teams and anticipation is high as they test themselves against the best in the country,” Wyllie said.
“We are fortunate that these age-group tournaments are always well supported and we thank the Zones and Centres who work hard as hosts.”
