Registrations for Improv Festival workshops are open

Registrations for New Zealand Improv Festival workshops are open.

Nau mai, haere mai, welcome – registrations for our 10th New Zealand Improv Festival (NZIF) are open today, and we warmly welcome anyone interested in the art of improvisation, storytelling or spontaneous thinking, movement or music to join us for our series of 32 workshops.

The NZIF is a week celebrating the spontaneous 20-27 October in Wellington and in 2018 we are proud to be celebrating our 10th birthday season.

Over the week the Festival runs workshops around the art of improv with Beginner classes like Personal Storytelling for Stage by Merrilee McCoy (AUS) or Physical Theatre & Mime by Fergus Aitken (NZ) the perfect first step for anyone wanting to give-it-a-go for the first time.

For Intermediate or Advanced improvisers, we are thrilled to be presenting workshops by Stephen Davidson (UK), Laura Berkemeyer (GER), Jonathan Pitts (USA), Christine Brooks (NZ), Maddie Parker (AUS) – just to name a few, covering everything from stage combat to stage romance, clowning to musicals and Chicago-style to unicorns…

From the 32 workshops, casts for 17 NZIF productions will be picked, where you are able to put your new knowledge to practical use.

Workshop registrations are at a first-come-first-served basis and pricing starts at $60 (one workshop), which also gets you access to NZIF artist pass deals, and a free ticket to attend the NZIF Gala opening event, 20 October at Hannah Playhouse - to $400 (for a maximum 11 workshops).

Workshops first tier allocations will be made Monday 1 October based on availability and timeslot.
