Cirque-Cabaret ‘Human’ Kickstarts Funding Drive For New Space For The Dust Palace
Human, which combines captivating circus artistry and candid cabaret opens on 1st to 4th August at Q Theatre, taking audiences on a visceral voyage behind-the-scenes of a late-night show and into the lives of the performers. The brand-new work from New Zealand’s premier cirque theatre company, The Dust Palace, launches the company’s drive to fund a new performance and practice space to open in 2019.
Created by The Dust Palace founders Eve Gordon and Mike Edward, Human is a celebration of our strength, weirdness, mortality and masks, which erases expectations and offers a cheeky look at the wonders of being human. An eclectic cast of the sassy, the sultry and the severe, invite you into their night of desire, disenchantment and champagne-fuelled revelry.
Shane Cortese (Guys and Dolls, Chicago, Outrageous Fortune, The Almighty Johnsons) steps out onto the boards once again to thrill audiences with his vocal flair and bold personality. Cortese is joined by a cast of ten elite circus performers taking to the air. International award-winning concert pianist, Flavio Villani, completes the striking ensemble.
Human kickstarts a drive to fund a new The Dust Palace circus hub to be opened in 2019. The fitted-for-purpose training and production venue will give kids, the community and artists a collaborative space to build their physical and creative skills. Audiences will be investing in the arts and helping grow the wild and wonderful world of circus performance through ticket sales toHuman, donations and patronage.
The Dust Palace will also be launching a PledgeMe offer for creative investors to become part of The Dust Palace.
A leader in the New Zealand circus arts scene, The Dust Palace is renowned for adventurous, breath-taking and seductive shows including Ithaca, Venus is..., The Goblin Market, and the celebrated APO collaboration Midnight.

“Superbly choreographed acrobatics featuring the finely muscled bodies and disciplined athleticism of highly trained performers” - Paul Simei-Barton, NZ Herald

Human will delight audiences with classic cabaret, incredible musicianship and fearless acrobatics from 1st to 4th August at Q Theatre. Tickets are on sale now.
