Fran Scholey will be swapping codes, but in the process, making a return to her sporting roots when taking up the position of Chief Executive Officer for Netball Central Zone (NCZ) in early August.
Currently General Manager of the Wellington Saints basketball team as well as being the Administrator of the National Basketball League (NBL), Scholey, who has a strong background in business, and sales and marketing, is delighted with her appointment.
``I’m very excited to be joining the team at Netball Central,’’ she said. ``I have strengths in the sales and marketing area which I’ll be looking to utilise as well as helping keep the netball community connected, so for me, it’s obviously about the teams performing on the court and, more personally, making sure everything else in the background is running smoothly.’’
In her playing days, Scholey turned out at premier level in the Wellington club competition and now coaches a premier team as well as her daughter’s futureFERNS team.
``I absolutely love netball,’’ she said.
``Netball Central is delighted to have Fran join the organisation and build on the success of outgoing CEO Carolyn Young to lead the Zone through its next stage,’’ NCZ Board Chair Carol Sander said.
Scholey, who has been in her current role for five years, will take up her new position with Netball Central after the completion of the NBL finals in early August. Libby Carson will remain as acting CEO until that time.
