ASB gives Dunedinites the chance to take on the All Blacks

Thursday 21 June 2018

ASB, as part of its support of the All Blacks, is inviting fans to try their luck in a game of coin rugby against the boys in black this Friday.

“We are proud rugby fans and we’re excited to offer, not only ASB customers but fans from the wider community, the chance to be part of the build-up ahead of Saturday’s test,” ASB head of community, sponsorship and events Mark Graham says.

The coin rugby matches will be held at ASB George Street Branch from 10am – 11am. But just which All Blacks are brave enough to test their coin rugby skills against passionate Dunedin rugby fans won’t be revealed until the branch doors open that morning.

“We know the All Blacks are a talented bunch but coin rugby isn’t part of their usual pre-game prep so it’s fair to say, while yes the boys are competitive they aren’t necessarily odds on favourites. It is going to be an enjoyable morning that’s for sure,” Graham says.

As well as the coin rugby spectacle, there will also be a chance for fans get photos, autographs and have a natter with the All Blacks. There are also prizes up for grabs.

ASB has supported the All Blacks since 2015 and it sits alongside the banks support of the Black Ferns and Maori All Blacks teams.

ASB Young Leaders Rugby Experience for some special Dunedin students

Also, to celebrate ASB’s sponsorship of the All Blacks, ASB is rewarding nine ambitious student rugby players from across Dunedin with an ASB Young Leaders Rugby Experience.

“The once-in-a-lifetime Experience is about recognising students who display excellent leadership qualities in their schools and show promise on the sports field,” Graham says.

The students from Otago girls, Kings High School and John McGlashan College will be attending a pre-match captain’s run on Friday and receive a ticket to the All Blacks match, as well as an Adidas All Blacks gear pack.
