A five-star luxury cruise around the Iberian Peninsula is just one of the hot-ticket items expected to raise interest, and auction paddles, at Shaken, Not Stirred - the Deloitte Winter Gala, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s (APO) annual black-tie fundraising dinner on 26 June.
This year’s event will be held at the historic Shed 10 on Queens Wharf, with all fundraising proceeds go towards APO Connecting, the orchestra’s award-winning programme of education, community and outreach.
The seven-day cruise from Barcelona to Lisbon, valued at $11,000, has been generously donated by APO platinum sponsor Crystal Cruises, and is one of the featured live auction items up for grabs during the event. Other exclusive items include a diamond and aquamarine snowflake pendant from Partridge Jewellers, a superyacht charter donated by Templar Family Office, and an original sculpture by New Zealand artist John Edgar.
The APO has also secured many covetable items and experiences for its silent auction including the opportunity to conduct the APO in a community concert, a three-night luxury stay in Queenstown, and a personal caricature by renowned cartoonist Rod Emmerson. And for the first time, the APO is opening the bidding on the silent auctions to the wider public, meaning you do not need to attend the event to place a bid. This is made possible by Galabid, an online auction platform that will provide real-time bids leading up to, and on the night.
More than 50 auction items will go live on www.galabid.com/apogala18 on 12 June, with bidding on silent auctions open until 10:30pm on 26 June. Once you register your details as a bidder, you will be able to bid on items and receive text alerts to notify you if you are outbid.
The line-up for ‘Shaken, Not Stirred’ features MC Wallace Chapman who will be joined by singer Esther Stephens and APO musicians to celebrate the music of James Bond. In keeping with the night’s 007 styling, guests will have the opportunity to play casino table games, with bets also contributing towards the night’s fundraising tally.
APO’s Director of Development Laura Dee says the Deloitte Winter Gala is an important event on the orchestra’s calendar. “As a charitable organisation, this event is essential to our annual fundraising goals for APO Connecting,” she says. “We’re grateful for all the generously donated auction items, and the addition of Galabid this year means APO supporters who are unable to attend the event can still join in and secure covetable items for a great cause,” she adds.
Tickets for ‘Shaken, Not Stirred’ are $280 each or $2,700 (including GST) for a table of 10, and includes a three-course meal designed by Dawsons, as well as fine wines from Villa Maria. Tickets are strictly limited and available at apo.co.nz.
