SAS Fox Memorial Premiership – Rd 9

Four of the five SAS Fox Memorial Premiership matches set down for Round 9 will see teams who are separated by just two points on the ladder meet in crunch clashes around Auckland.

The Roope Rooster goes up for grabs at Walker Park, as the undefeated Pirates look to defend the challenge trophy for the fourth time this year, coming up against a Hornets side who were 38-point winners last up against Marist.

Marist meanwhile take on Richmond in the livestreamed main game, with coverage from 2.00pm, as the Saints try and put a horror first round behind them by picking up their first victory of the year.

Earlier in the day at Murray Halberg Park, fifth-placed Northcote and sixth-placed Otahuhu meet in a key battle (12.20pm kick-off), as they try to keep touch with the Fox’s top four sides, two of whom will meet when Glenora host Mt Albert at Harold Moody Reserve.

Crown Lift Trucks Sharman Cup – Rd 7

The Crown Lift Trucks Sharman Cup’s two newest teams face off in Round 7, having both got off to flying starts in 2018.

The Franklin Storm are shooting for an undefeated opening two months in the competition, and sit second on the ladder despite losing a point from their Round 1 draw with Manurewa due to fielding ineligible players.

On Saturday they take on a Northern Brothers side who are inside the top eight with three wins already under their belt.

The second division’s best team, Bay Roskill, take on current cellar-dwellers, Papatoetoe, while the east Auckland derby between Ellerslie and Pakuranga has a new edge to it after the Jaguars produced one of the upsets of the season a fortnight ago to beat Ponsonby 32-24.

Current top eight sides Te Atatu, New Lynn and Otara all faces teams who sit on the back half of the ladder right now.
