LUMA 2018 Lights Up Queenstown
Queenstown’s LUMA Southern Light Project wrapped up last night (Monday June 4) after dazzling and delighting thousands.
A record-breaking 50,000 people – 15,000 more than last year’s event -- braved a chilly Queen’s Birthday Weekend to be dazzled by an array of interactive and unique light installations.
Visitors wandered throughout Queenstown Gardens and waterfront and were awestruck by spectacular light sculptures and thought-provoking installations hidden amongst the trees, around ponds and in the rose gardens.
The free public event was a hit with families, visitors and locals who delighted in seeing their world in a completely different light.
This year there were over 29 interactive and unique light displays from 31 artists. Each installation encouraged visitors to engage with the artworks and lose themselves in a magical illuminated world as they wandered deeper into the woods.
