Art Lovers And Collectors Descend on the Cloud From Wednesday, 23 May

Art lovers, collectors and curators have arrived in Auckland from around the country and the world to view and buy from New Zealand’s premier international showcase for contemporary art, The Auckland Art Fair (AAF).

More than 45 galleries and 180 artists from 9 countries will be showcasing the most interesting art from the Pacific-rim, at The Cloud on Auckland’s Queen’s Wharf from opening night on Wednesday, 23 May – Sunday 27 May.

The reputation of the Auckland Art Fair as a significant Fair for exhibiting and purchasing, cutting-edge contemporary art, from the wider Pacific region, continues to grow, illustrated by the number of new works that are being created, specifically for the Fair, by some of the Pacific’s top artists.

Big New Zealand names such as Shane Cotton, Simon Denny, Jess Johnson, John Pule, Lisa Reihana and Andy Leleisi’uao will sit alongside renowned international artists including Patricia Piccinini, Taro Shinoda, Jonny Niesche, Dale Frank and Heather B. Swann.

With more than NZ$5 million of sales expected for the 45 participating galleries from an audience of more than 9,000 people over 5 days, the Auckland Art Fair is set to be another incredibly successful event, putting New Zealand firmly on the map culturally around the world.
