Kiwi Kids Music Collective founder Suzy Cato says “Wow, what a stunning line up of music makers focusing their talents on kiwi kids and their families! Super proud of every one of our Kiwi Kids Music members and blown away by the quality of this year’s entrants to the NZ Children’s Music Awards. It’s as it should be – Kiwi Kids deserve the very best!”.
Craig Smith’s already classic song is accompanied by an exciting book. This is the second time Craig has won this award, the first being in 2009 with the #1 best seller Wonky Donkey. Currently touring & playing through Asia, Craig’s song is a fun (and a little scary) story & song, sure to appeal to the children as well as the adults in the home and make you smile.
Levity Beet is no stranger to these awards having won the APRA Best Children’s Song award three times. This year taking out the coveted Tui award, his album features unusual instruments he has invented using recycled appliances and materials to produce quirky, humourous and heartfelt music for children and the young at heart. He shares his unique music adventure in schools, early childhood centres and festivals all over New Zealand.
Moe & Friends, who were finalists in all three categories, take home their second Children’s Music Award after winning the APRA Best Children’s Song in 2017. They have been entertaining kids for nearly four years on the beloved TV series The Moe Show. With songs written by Jeremy Dillon and Ben Sinclair, and brought to life by the entire Moe Show team including video producer Briar Coleman, they seamlessly blend humour and education into one energetic package.
All three awards were presented at a special family friendly event at the Tuning Fork, Spark Arena Auckland this morning. Hosted by Suzy Cato, guests were treated to performances by Ana van Riel, finalists Chanelle Davis, Itty Bitty Beats, Levity Beet, plus Suzy Cato & Kath Bee. Following the awards, guests enjoyed a BBQ, games & activities on the plaza courtesy of Spark Arena.
