Thunderbirds Are Go in Napier This Weekend

Thunderbirds Are Go is one of the film series that will be shown at Screenies Children’s Film Festival, this Saturday 21 April at the MTG Century Theatre. The series is an animated remake of the iconic 1960s television series, Thunderbirds.

Thunderbirds Are Go is based on the infamous International Rescue, a family of heroes, the Tracy brothers, who pilot their incredible vehicles into impossible rescues across the globe. When disaster strikes and there is no one else to help, International Rescue answers the call and pull off amazing feats of heroism.

Following the screening of the series is a free workshop which provides an opportunity for children to learn about the Thunderbirds are Go design process and hopefully create inspiration for the festival goers to design and make their own Thunderbird vehicle out of recycled materials.

Episodic Director and Production Designer for Thunderbirds Are Go, Ben Milsom, will also hold a presentation at the workshop giving children an amazing opportunity to ask questions about production and to pitch their vehicle designs and ideas to him.

Screenies Festival Director Janette Howe says Ben’s involvement in the workshop is fantastic for children to get behind the scenes of an iconic show. “I want kids to be able to meet people who work in the industry and be inspired to go from being an audience for content, to a content creator” says Howe.
