It was a thrilling day on the Gold Coast yesterday, as New Zealand athletes added to our medal tally and Kiwis back home followed all the drama on air and online.
The men's Mountain Biking in the afternoon reached 414,100 viewers across TVNZ 1 and Games Extra.
The Black Sticks won on field, and 824,400 viewers tuned in across TVNZ 1 and Games Extra to see the women beat England.*
Today's highlights
Athletics
Who said Kiwis can’t fly? Eliza McCartney and Olivia McTaggart are soaring into the women’s Pole Vault final tonight at 9.50pm, LIVE on TVNZ 1. The Shot Put final begins at 10.25pm, also LIVE on TVNZ 1. Dame Valerie Adams breezed through her qualifying round yesterday to make it through. New Zealanders will be hoping Dame Val has another gold medal performance in her this evening! The men’s 10,000m final rounds out the session. Jake Robertson is racing from 11.05pm.
With a number of Athletics events underway simultaneously at Carrara Stadium this evening, Games Online will also stream the track and field action from 9pm to ensure our Kiwi athletes are covered when TVNZ 1 needs to move to the next event.
Rugby Sevens
The Rugby Sevens gets underway on TVNZ DUKE this evening, LIVE from 6.20pm. The Black Ferns face Kenya first at 6.53pm followed by South Africa at 9.33pm. TVNZ 1 will be crossing over at key moments to see if our women’s team can kick their opponents to touch!
Hockey
Can the Black Sticks turf India out of the hockey? The men’s semi-final will broadcast LIVE on TVNZ Games Extra from 9.30pm. They’ll be hoping to replicate the Kiwi women’s impressive performance yesterday against England.
