Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival Includes Four New Locations!
The seventh annual Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival is coming to a city near you. This year’s line-up will showcase the most acclaimed and current films in architecture and design, including documentaries on this century’s finest architects, super stars in the design field and movements for environmental change.
The festival will play nationwide in eight locations:
• AUCKLAND (Rialto Cinemas Newmarket): 3-20 May
• WELLINGTON (Embassy Theatre): 24 May – 10 June
• DUNEDIN (Rialto Cinemas): 14–24 June
• CHRISTCHURCH (Academy Gold): 28 June – 11 July
• NEW PLYMOUTH (EVENT Cinemas): 15-17 June
• TAURANGA (EVENT Cinemas): 22-24 June
• HAVELOCK NORTH (EVENT Cinemas): 29 June – 1 July
• PALMERSTON NORTH (EVENT Cinemas): 6-8 July
Tickets for the festival are on sale now.
Rialto Cinemas has once again partnered with Clearly & Co, who curated the spectacular films for this year’s line-up. Curator Clare Buchanan says, “Housing is a real issue in New Zealanders. These films remind us of the powerful role architecture plays in creating positive, sustainable communities”.
The festival films have been grouped into themes, so audiences can navigate towards stories they are most curious about. “We have brought together 19 films from all over the world covering off a range of topics; Architectural legends, Landscape design, Product design, Fashion illustration, as well as environmental films tackling issues surrounding clean energy and global food production”, says Buchanan.
Rialto Cinemas Group Manager Kathryn Bennett says that she is delighted that the festival is returning for 2018 and growing so more people from all over New Zealand will get to experience architecture and design documentaries that aren’t always on the big screen, “We’re looking forward to the festival reaching more people than ever across the country.”
Resene Marketing Manager Karen Warman says Resene is once again thrilled to be bringing the festival to New Zealand with Rialto Cinemas. “Before the last festival finished, we were already getting requests for it to come back again. The Resene Architecture & Design Film Festival is such a unique opportunity for everyone to indulge their interest in, and love of, great architecture and design. Resene has a long history of supporting New Zealand architecture and being a part of this festival helps to remind us all how important great design is.“
This year’s festival gold partners are Fisher & Paykel and HOME.
This festival is the second largest architecture and design film festival in the world.
