5th annual New Zealand Flora and Fauna art exhibition - Paintings at Pukaha, marks a milestone for annual fundraiser.

36 well-known local artists have created an exhibition of native flora, fauna and wildlife which will be on display and available to purchase at Pukaha Mount Bruce from March 30th until the end of July 2018.

Local artist Viv Walker has for the fifth consecutive year curated the Paintings at Pukaha exhibition for viewing in the Kaka Café and Huia room at the Pukaha visitor centre. The official invitation only opening of Paintings at Pukaha is on Thursday the 29th of March at 6:00 pm at the Pukaha Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre. With the paintings available for public viewing from Friday, March 30th.

To mark the occasion of the 5-year anniversary of this annual Pukaha fundraiser, an artist launch evening will take place with invited guest from the artist and Pukaha supporters in attendance. With support from sponsors Fall Protect, Sylkenwood, Hedley’s and New Zealand Pacific Studios artist can win prizes in the people’s choice award. The overall winning artwork as voted by the public will receive a free weekends residency at New Zealand Pacific studios. The Paintings at Pukaha exhibition will also be heading to Aratoi in Masterton. The exhibit will run at Aratoi from August 11th- September 9th, 2018. These additions have made Paintings at Pukaha a must-do on the art scene locally. Votes for the people’s choice award can be placed at the visitor centre at Pukaha or online at www.pukaha.org.nz/paintings from March 30th.

“The artists are not only contributing to a stunning exhibition which brings home to all our visitors the beauty of New Zealand flora and fauna, they are also very kindly donating a portion of the sale of any of the paintings and prints towards our conservation work” says general manager Emily Court. “We are very grateful to Viv for again organising this exhibition, the event sponsors, Fall Protect, Sylkenwood. Hedley’s, Aratoi and New Zealand Pacific Studio as well as all the artists for their input”.

Artists include Paul Gadsby, Max Baylis, Jacky Pearson, Sandra Wong, Mark Dimmock and Ian Chapman to name a few. A full list of the artists can be found at www.pukaha.org.nz

Entry to the exhibition is free although donations will be gratefully accepted. All artwork on display is also for sale with a generous percentage going directly to Pukaha Mount Bruce.
