Board changes demonstrate confidence in Isaac Theatre Royal future
The appointment of two new directors to the Isaac Theatre Royal Charitable Foundation Board of Directors demonstrates a
strong future for the city’s pre-eminent performing arts theatre.
Peter Marshall of Warren and Mahoney Architects, and Kathryn Dalziel of Taylor Shaw Barristers and Solicitors, have been
appointed to the theatre’s Foundation Board by the Isaac Theatre Royal Trust.
“The Isaac Theatre Royal has been Christchurch’s leading performing arts venue for over 100 years. She reopened in
November 2014 following a successful $40M post-earthquake rebuild and has had three highly successful years of operation
since,” said Chair of the Theatre Royal Trustees, Stephen Erber.
“However, ahead of us is a rapidly changing operating environment with different challenges, a more competitive
environment with new performing arts venues opening and a changing market. We must ensure we have the best and most
appropriate skills and experience to lead the organization.”
“Peter and Kathryn bring significant and relevant skills to the Foundation Board. The appointment of two such high
calibre directors demonstrates confidence in the theatre, in the theatre team, and in the future of performing arts in
Christchurch,” said Mr Erber.
Stepping down from the Board are John O’Hagen and Andrew Logan.
“John’s engineering expertise throughout a challenging rebuild has been invaluable, and Andrew has provided wise legal
counsel on a broad range of issues, said David Stock, Chair, Isaac Theatre Royal Charitable Foundation Board.
“We are very grateful to them both for their time and commitment and very sorry to see them move on, but delighted to
welcome Peter and Kathryn.”
“Peter brings to the Board an understanding of the building’s architecture and construction, and its significance to the
rebuild of Christchurch, and Kathryn brings legal skills including expertise on human resources and health and safety.
They join a committed governance and management team with a diverse range of experience and skills. I am confident we
have the team to take the Isaac Theatre Royal into a changing and challenging performing arts environment, and maintain
its position as Christchurch’s pre-eminent performing arts venue for another 100years,” said Mr Stock.
