Wilson And Michels Take One Hour Race at Teretonga
Invercargill pairing Boyd Wilson and Jordan Michels won the final race of the season at Teretonga Park on Saturday in a Ford Falcon.
The pair combined to win the A1 Auto Services 1 Hour Race at the event presented by Downer, crossing the line almost 29 seconds ahead of another Invercargill driver, Jeremy Dawson in a Toyota Starlet with Malcolm Jones of Invercargill third in a Corolla.
Further back in the field two-time BNT V8’s Champion Liam MacDonald broke the lap record for the race in his Falcon after his team made a rapid gearbox change just to get him on the grid. Before then MacDonald had won all four Noel McIntyre Drainage Clubmans Saloon Races in the Falcon, ending the day top of the podium in the Clubmans Class. Wal Willmott was second overall for the day in his Star Car after taking a second and two third placings while Jeremy Dawson was third overall for the day. In the class race MacDonald won the 2501cc & over class, Rachael Beck the 1601-2500cc class, Jeremy Dawson (1301-1600cc) and Willmott the 0-1300cc class.
Josh Hack of Alexandra in a Holden Commodore took two race wins in the NZ Six Saloon races taking the overall win for the day from fellow Commodore driver Alvin Frew of Waikouaiti and Christchurch driver Craig Paterson (Falcon).
Gregory Scott of Dunedin won all four Sports & Racing car races to top the podium where he was joined by Stephen Heffernan and Jordan Michels. Sam Smith of Wallacetown broke the Sports Car lap record during the day, one previously held by Heffernan for the last 19 years.
