Aces host ND as Plunket Shield returns
The Plunket Shield returns this Thursday with the Auckland Aces taking on Northern Districts at Eden Park Outer Oval.
The Aces have named a strong squad to take on ND, fresh off winning the Ford Trophy One-Day Domestic Competition on
Saturday.
Michael Guptill-Bunce returns to lead the side which features Surrey County’s Stuart Meaker.
“Stuart has fit in really well with the group,” says Guptill-Bunce.
“He’s been bowling good wheels in the nets and to be honest I’ll be happy to stand in the gully and watch him charge in
against the Northern batsmen!”
Matt McEwan is also back from injury while Jamie Brown is in line to make his First-Class debut if selected.
“It just shows the strength of our squad that we can bring in the likes of Matt [McEwan] who performed well for us in
the first half of the Plunket Shield campaign,” says Guptill-Bunce.
“Browny has taken his chances in the Ford Trophy campaign and I’m sure he’s eager to sink his teeth into some red ball
cricket.”
The Aces sit in third on the Plunket Shield table behind Central Districts and Wellington and will be hoping for a win
against fourth placed Northern to further cement their spot.
