LEGO® lovers look out!
One of only fourteen LEGO Certified Professionals globally, Ryan McNaught (aka Brickman), will be bringing some of the world’s most iconic landmarks and masterpieces made exclusively from LEGO to Auckland Museum.
Ryan McNaught and his team have spent a jaw-dropping 4,944 hours building the 50 LEGO masterpieces that will be on display, including the Taj Mahal, Michelangelo’s Statue of David, The Great Wall of China, the Empire State Building (complete with King Kong), the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Arc de Triomphe.
Visitors will be taken on a historical journey through time, with the opportunity to discover more about each attraction – real life and LEGO life! Ryan will also be enlisting the building skills of the public to help with some of the model making, creating a truly interactive and imaginative experience.
Auckland Museum Director Dr. David Gaimster says “Brickman: Wonders of the World is an exciting international exhibition for Aucklanders to enjoy at Auckland Museum. This exhibition is one of many world-class touring exhibitions we will bring to Auckland in the years to come,” he says.
This highly popular event will come to Auckland after wowing Hamilton LEGO fans through March at Claudelands in Hamilton, and follows a successful two-month run at Te Papa in Wellington, where over 100,000 LEGO lovers visited Brickman: Wonders of the World.
Ryan McNaught says: “It was incredible to have so many people come to see Brickman: Wonders of the World at Te Papa, a phenomenal turnout of kids and adults that love LEGO as much as I do. I can’t wait to bring the party to Auckland Museum; it’s going to be awesome!”
“This is like nothing that has been seen before in Auckland. Every model is brand new and infinitely more detailed than anything I’ve ever created,” says Ryan McNaught.
