MEDIA RELEASE, Sydney, February 20, 2018: American Express Openair Cinemas has today announced that a new summer festival of food, fun and flicks will be taking place in Christchurch this March 15 to April 1, with American Express Card Members receiving a range of exclusive benefits.
Bringing more than movies to Rauora Park for the very first time, the Trans-Tasman event experience which visits ten stunning locations across Australia and New Zealand each year, is set to become an annual fixture on the city’s cultural calendar.
FUN
With 15 events happening throughout the series the festival vibes will be in full swing each night with an array of alternative entertainment, live music and DJ performances before the latest and greatest feature films light up the big screen. On Saturdays, Visit Victoria will be upping the ante as they showcase the sights, sounds and tastes of Melbourne’s vibrant cultural scene.
Anyone short of company is welcome to bring along their ‘Doggy Date’ to any screening. Pampered pooches can enjoy the VID treatment with a pawfect picnic platter of doggy delights and their very own canine couch.
FOOD
Purveyors of fine food and authentic Italian cuisine, Toto Pizza, will be transporting diners to the streets of Napoli with a daily menu of wood-fired pizzas and signature pasta dishes available each evening.
To wash it down, the dedicated cocktail bar will be serving refreshing twists on summer classics as well as Frosé, Aperol Spritz, Kaiser craft beer, Giesen Wine and Charlie’s soft drinks, plus cinema essentials, ice cream and popcorn.
FLICKS
The movie program will showcase an exciting mix of box office hits, highly anticipated new releases and cult classics including:
I, Tonya - Margot Robbie stars in a film about one of the most infamous sporting scandals in history.
The Greatest Showman - Hugh Jackman takes center stage in an original musical celebrating the birth of show business.
Pitch Perfect 3 - following their epic win at the world championship, the now separated Bellas reunite for one final singing competition.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri - a mother personally challenges the local authorities to solve her daughter's murder when they fail to catch the culprit.
Dirty Dancing - have the ‘time of your life’ with the biggest film of all time.
Coco - Disney's new gem takes you to Mexico's colorful Day of the Dead.
